Profil

I am Professor of Breast Cancer Prevention. I research cancer treatment adherence, prognosis and survivorship using Danish registries and biobanks.

I did my BSc (Biomedical Science) at University College Cork, Ireland; my PhD (Biotechnology) in molecular biology and cancer research at Dublin City University, Ireland, and a postdoctoral fellowship in cancer epidemiology at the National Cancer Registry, Ireland and National Cancer Institute, USA.

Forskning

I am conducting research on cancer epidemiology with particular focus on breast cancer epidemiology and prognosis. Using advanced epidemiological methods and Danish registries, clinical databases and biobanks, my goal is to better understand breast cancer prognosis and survivorship.

Uddannelse

I teach undergraduate, masters and PhD courses on clinical epidemiology and cancer epidemiology at Aarhus University Health.

Samarbejder

I collaborate with researchers and clinicians at Aarhus University Hospital, the Danish Breast Cancer Group & the Royal Hospital (Copenhagen), the Danish Cancer Institute, Emory University (USA), University of Vermont (USA), Imperial College London (UK),  and Vrije University, Amsterdam.

Rådgivning

Based on my research as a cancer epidemiologist, I have extensive experience with research in real-world evidence and have led research projects with national and international collaborators, for industry and contract research. I am also a current/past member of several steering committees including the Aarhus University Personalised Medicine Steering Committee (co-chair), Danish Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (former), Danish Data Science Academy (former), among others.

Arbejdsområder

I lead the breast cancer research group at the Dept. of Clinical Epidemiology. Our research encompasses molecular and genetic epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, comorbidities and cancer. We investigate factors that influence cancer treatment adherence, and cancer outcomes particularly cancer recurrence.
